Intro

I'm a Ph.D. student at the Computer Science Department of the University of Basel, and a member of the Computer Networks Research Group. I joined the group in February 2006 for working in PermaSense project. The project is aimed at building and customizing a set of wireless measurement units for use in remote areas with harsh environmental monitoring conditions, and gathering of environmental data that helps to understand the processes that connect climate change and rock fall in permafrost areas. To this end, two sensor fields have been designed and deployed in the Swiss Alps so far. My main research interest within this project is wireless sensor ad-hoc networks (WSNs) tech, especially self-organizing, security and mobile code aspects of WSNs. For my PhD thesis i'm working on network retasking using reconfigurable in-network virtual machines. My main focus in this area lies in utilizing active code compression techniques.
